Corns and Calluses
There are different types of Corns and Calluses, but they are mostly caused by the intense pressure from footwear (including Occupational Footwear). These can be removed painlessly and simply by a Podiatrist. Orthotics, insoles and/or footwear advice may help to prevent recurrance.
Nail care is offered for those people who have difficulty managing their own. It may be difficult to reach your feet, hold a pair of scissors, or a struggle to cut your nails due to the thickness, or shape.
Biomechanics and Orthotics
Many foot problems occur due to abnormal mechanics of the foot and can often be treated simply with the correct pair of Orthotics and a stretching exercise routine.
Orthotics can improve conditions such as Plantar Fasciitis, Arch Pain, Achilles Tendonitis, Bunions, Flat Feet, Hammer toes, Metatarsalgia, Neuroma, Knee Pain and Back Pain.
Ingrowing Toenails & Nail Surgery
Nail Surgery - the removal or partial removal of an ingrowing toenail under Local Anaesthetic when conservative treatment has failed.
Often for the most basic painful ingrowing toenail, the offending nail spike can be removed in a routine appointment. But if this can't be done, or the problem is longstanding, a permanent solution would be Nail Surgery to remove part or all of the nail and prevent it from growing back. If you think you have an ingrowing nail please telephone 0114 2450971 for an assessment appointment and we can discuss your treatment options.
Verrucae are simply viral warts which appear on the feet and toes.
Treatments offered at the clinic are:
Chemical - An acid is applied in a pad to disintegrate the viral cells, and takes more than one application.
Freezing - Verrucae are frozen with Nitrous Oxide Gas, and may take more than one treatment.
Diabetic Foot Care
Diabetic Foot Assessment
If you have been diagnosed with diabetes then you could develop complications with your feet. It is important to have your feet assessed at least once a year so that you receive the appropriate level of care.
